Sultan Muhammad ul-Halim (1568–1596)

The son of Sultan Nasirud-Din I. His other name was Pangiran Buddiman which was the name by which he was probably known.[1]

In Brunei genealogy, he is recognized to have married a Brunei princess, "Putri Brunei. m. before May 1578, H.H. Paduka Maulana Maha Sri Sultan Shah Muhammad al-Halim Buddiman, Sultan of Sulu (d. 1579), son of H.H. Paduka Maulana Maha Sri Sultan Shah Nazir ud-din Awal I, Sultan of Sulu". His Brunei royal wife was a daughter of Sultan 'Abdu'l Kahar Jalil ul-Alam (ibni al-Marhum Sultan Bolkiah Shah Alam) who reigned from 1533 to 1578, from the latter's 2nd wife. [2]

Interestingly, his wife's younger sister is recorded in the same Brunei genealogy "m. Raja Sulaiman, Raja of Maynilad (k. in battle with the Spanish, at Maynilad Fortress, 6th March 1571), nephew and successor of Raja Muhammad Matanda, Raja of Maynilad."[2]

Further to the Brunei genealogy, his daughter by his Brunei wife, married and became the 4th wife of Brunei Sultan Muhammad Hassan ibni al-Marhum Sultan Saif ul-Rijal Nur ul-Alam (1582 - 1598). [3]
